Info. about the Exams.

Salam Folks,
I'm guessing you are all very busy getting ready for the finals... It shall be ok In Shaa Allah.

I decided to provide you with some information about the exams just so you know what to expect and this is true for both the Micro and the Macro class.

Overall there will be 5 questions for you to answer any 4 and that will sum up to 50marks. For the accountancy students, I will scale it up to 70 by dividing whatever mark you score by 50 and multiplying it by 70.

The guidelines didn't change- from after the mid-term to the last chapter. In order to balance the exams, there will be a combination of both calculation and theory so be prepared for both of them.

Due to the large class sizes and my fear that the time might not be available to attempt a bonus question, I am thinking of omitting the bonus question for extra credit. As a matter of fact, quite a good number of the students give it back to me as a bonus again. :-).

About the group projects, you do not necessarily have to wait for the deadline to submit you can submit before the deadline and I will try to create time to grade them before the exams to let you know of your stance.

I better stop here. I am writing too much...

P.S there will be a quiz on the date of the exams..... wink.

Salam
Sering

Final Note- Spring 2012

Dear All,
Greetings,
It's last day of classes this week! Wow! the semester has moved so fast!
I am going to miss you all.... I am going to miss standing in front of you guys say "please do away with all economic materials and cut a piece of paper, we have a quiz today". or "please note that a new homework has been posted on the blog the due date is bla bla bla and late submission penalties apply.."

On a serious note, I will really miss each and everyone of you... it was great having you all sign up for my class and it's excellent to have you.
Granted, it must have been really challenging with so much work, but I believe it was worth it..
I seek forgiveness from each and everyone of you if I have offended you in anyway during the course of the semester...

Please check with the notice board for a breakdown of your grade summary to confirm your status in the class.
Good luck with your exams and good luck with everything!

That's about it for now. See you around.

Cheers
Sering

Readings For Macro

Macro Students,
Greetings,
Below are readings which I found pretty interesting and relate very much to our discussions in our recent classes.

Paul Krugman's piece on inflation as a necessity to spur growth in the US economy.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/06/opinion/krugman-not-enough-inflation.html

Here is another piece on austerity- tightening the economy he wrote late March. It relates very much to our current topic on fiscal policy.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/22/opinion/pushing-back-against-austerity.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=Pushing%20back%20against%20austerity&st=cse

The readings are very important for your understanding in what we are talking about.. please endeavor to read them...
