Sering Touray: I am a PhD Candidate in Economics at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK affiliated to the Scottish Graduate Program in Economics (SGPE). I am a Teaching Assistant for courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics and Statistical Techniques; and a Research Assistant for a study on vulnerability of households in Senegal to idiosyncratic shocks . Prior to starting the PhD program at HWU, I did a Masters (MSc) at The University of Edinburgh under the same SGPE program with modules on microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, development economics, health economics and economics of Industrial Organizations. Although much of my current research uses microeconometric techniques, microeconomic theory and development economics concepts, part of my PhD training involved advanced courses in macroeconomics, some Bayesian econometrics; in addition to courses in advance panel data econometrics and microeconomic theory. Apart from Economics, I am very passionate about computers. I am a huge fan of open-source- an experienced Ubuntu user; and have gathered some experience in software development.
